Poverty and inequality continue to affect millions across South Africa. High unemployment, particularly among young people, combined with rising food costs and overcrowded living conditions, has left many families struggling to meet their basic needs.

Economic pressures including unemployment , limited job opportunities, rising living costs, and unequal access to basic services leaves many households struggling to cover essential needs like food, healthcare, housing and education.

Help families in SOUTH AFRICA:

• R650 can provide food and water to a family of 5

• R1250 can provide a food pack to a family this Ramadaan

• R2,150 can provide non-food item kits for a household

• R10,500 contributes toward emergency shelter restoration for a family

Campaign Story

This Ramadaan I have partnered with Islamic Relief in order to raise funds for South Africa, alghamdullilah.

Last year I volunteered in their 2025 Inspire program where we collaborated with the Canadian Islamic Relief volunteers. It was one of the best experiences and my heart melted in a way I never expected it to. I had been a volunteer for Islamic Relief for a while before that, however, interacting with the orphans and actually seeing where our volunteer work goes into is such a rewarding experience. Therefore, I have decided to dedicate any of my free time to charity.

“A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! Which charity is the most superior in reward?” He replied, “The charity which you practice while you are healthy, niggardly and afraid of poverty and wish to become wealthy. Do not delay it to the time of approaching death and then say, ‘Give so much to such and such, and so much to such and such.’ And it has already belonged to such and such (as it is too late).” Sahih Al-Bukhari 1419.

Charity begins at home, let’s make a difference this Ramadaan 🙂
